We are seeking Master and/or Ph.D. students interested to complement their primary expertise with Digital Internship in Seneffe (Belgium). You will be integrated in one of Dow’s key functions - Research and Development. You will work with a cross-functional team whose high-level goal is to accelerate the digital evolution of a global leader in the materials industry. You will bring your skills and experience to work with a group of domain experts to accelerate delivery of high priority projects. Goals of the project(s) could include delivering breakthrough sustainable chemistry innovations; advancing on a circular economy; producing better and safer materials; optimizing products and processes to reduce carbon footprint; optimizing planning, scheduling, and value chain to a greener chemistry; and other areas to help Dow reaching ambitious sustainability goals.

Projects Proposals:

Title: Digital framework with regional focus: Imaging Capabilities
Description: Dow Coating Materials & Beyond has launched PaintVision™, an online platform to support our customers by Paint performance driven Product Selector and Virtual Paint Formulator. The platform extends beyond customer interaction to include internal R&D data acquisition. At the same time Dow researchers spend much of their time for framing the research information from testing results related to their work. The ability to shape this information quickly and easily is critical to meet ever tightening project timelines. The focus of this work will be on the new Imaging station with the ultimate objective to automation for plotted data from existing algorithms for standardized the image collection and analysis.

Title: Innovation Dashboard for EMEAI Team – Administration of the Information
Description: Dow does recognize that the journey to move to Digital Environment plays a critical role to achieve the ambition to become the world´s most innovative, customer centric, inclusive, and sustainable materials science company. For the Research and Development and Technical Service and Development functions is important to develop, construct, and release a comprehensive dashboard that integrates data from Diamond System and CRM Dynamics Systems and to provide a clear visualization for Innovation and TS&D opportunities, creating the proper impact in Europe, Middle-East, Africa and India region. In preparation to the next digitalization initiatives for the R&D function, a map is needed to store the information managed and created in the EMEAI laboratories, understanding our processes and flux of information.

Required Qualifications

- Currently enrolled in a MSc. Or Ph.D. degree program on equivalent in any type of Computer Science with a preference for lab automation or Infromation Science. Dual expertise in Industrial Engineering is a plus (e.g. Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Energy Engineering etc.).

- Some experience or interest in working in administration of data.

- Knowledge of LIMS, CRM Dynamics, Microsoft Teams, Power BI is desirable.

- Proficient in English, German language is a plus.

Preferred Skills

- Passion for management of information, integration of systems, modelling of real processes.

- Able to work independently but also in teams.

- Effective communicator organized and responsive.

- Able to quickly assimilate and understand technology, out-of-box thinker.

Additional Information

- Legally entitled by EU citizenship or by a valid VISA to work in the project country.

- The candidate is available to start between March and June 2024 for a period of 5-6 months (exact date and duration to be discussed based on availability).

- This internship could be part, but not necessary, of a graduating school assignment. Working hours will be the local and legal equivalent of a full-time employee.
